Dima Bilan, born Viktor Belan, emerged as a prominent Russian pop singer in the mid-2000s. Hailing from the Karachai-Cherkess Republic, he honed his musical skills at the Gnesins Musical College in Moscow under the mentorship of producer Yury Aizenshpis. Bilan's debut at the 2002 New Wave International Song Contest in Latvia marked the beginning of his successful career, with his initial albums, Nochnoi Khuligan (Night Hooligan) and Na Beregu Neba (On the Heaven's Shore), garnering widespread acclaim in 2003 and 2004.
Throughout 2005, Bilan received numerous pop music accolades, solidifying his position in the industry. Despite facing challenges following Aizenshpis' passing in 2005, Bilan found new support from producer Yana Rudkovskaya, leading to his notable second-place win at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest and the release of his third album, Vremya Reka (Time River).
